FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS....
Who will be doing the quilting....?I do all of my own quilting. Nothing is sent out. My home is smoke free. I have no pets in the house. I make all the repairs and do the ironing also.
Back to TopHow long does it take to complete the work....?I generally have a 2-4 week turn-around. When you contact me with your order you will be told what the completion date is. I have a first come first serve policy. This is my full time work. I quilt or piece anywhere from 30 to 50 hours per week depending on demand. Back to TopWhat are the charges for quilting.....?The charges for simple pantographs and overall meandering are .01/inch. Take the length times the width and multiply by .01. Example: 70inchesX70inches=4900. 4900 X .01 = $49.00. I have a few pantographs that I do for $9.50/yard. The quilting is not as heavy as the .01/inch pantographs and meanderings. More intricate pantographs are .013/inch or more. Custom quilting and or motif quilting runs from .013-.02or more per inch. Prices will vary by complexity of design. Some designs may appear quite simplistic but require frequent thread changes or starts and stops. You will always be quoted your price prior to beginning the work on your quilt.
Back to TopWho provides backing and/or batting....?You are welcome to provide your own backing and batting. I have an assortment of battings and backings available. My backings are the same as you would pick up at any quilt shop. I can provide limited backings...I order them from a company that handles Moda and RJR. Most of what I get is dependent upon availability. I will quote you the price prior to you committing to the fabric. The battings that I carry are Hobbs Heirloom Cotton 80/20, Hobbs Washable Wool, Warm and Natural, and a 3 oz. poly/compact. If you are interested in purchasing batting I will quote you a price prior to your order being placed. Back to TopDo I have a choice in color thread or pattern....?Yes you do! After all the work you have put in to your quilt, from the designing, picking out the fabric, to piecing and pressing, your input into the final phase of the quilt is important. I have a large assortment of thread colors. I would be happy to email you a selection. If I don't have the exact color you want I will be happy to purchase it for you to complete your quilt at no additional charge. I have approximately 100 colors on hand at this time. There are many different types of thread available. Permacore is a popular thread and comes in a wide variety of colors. It is a poly/cotton blend. Sulky is one of my favorites. It is slightly heavier and lies on the top of the fabric giving it a soft look. King Tut and YLI are also beautiful threads. Signature thread comes in sold and variegated. Just check out the links to view them. I have a wide variety of pantographs. Not all pantographs are shown on this web site. Pantographs are overall designs the run the length and width of your quilt. They can cover your quilt or be used only in the borders or only in the body. You are welcome to browse through my patterns or if you see a pattern on a web site that you like better, I would be pleased to order it for you at no additional charge. It is a great way for me to increase my inventory! There are several links to view pantographs and make your choices. King's Men, The Quilted Rose and Golden Threads have many to choose from.
Back to TopHow large should the backing or batting be....?They need to be at least 4 inches larger than the quilt top. For example: if your quilt top is 70 X 70 the back and batting need to be at least 74 X 74. This is necessary to provide me with fabric to attach your quilt to my machine.
